Trust in Luton Press Release

MEETING WITH MR JOHN GURNEY

On Monday June 23rd, five Members of the Trust in Luton (Simon Binns, Brian Mugridge, Tony Murray, Mark Thompson & Gary Sweet) attended a meeting with Luton Town Chief Executive John Gurney. Also in attendance were Cherry Newbery, Peter Davis and a BBC film crew filming a documentary called "Trouble at the Top".

After a 3 ΒΌ hour meeting, the major issues discussed and agreed with the Club were:

An extension of the Season Ticket discount date until Saturday 12th July. This was felt to be appropriate as the findings of the Football League Board meeting on Thursday 10th July will be available.

When asked to reveal the identity of the owners, Mr Gurney stated that an announcement will be made in 7-14 days. Mr Gurney is apparently not the owner. Investors to the Club are welcomed in the short and longer term.

The back up information for the Manager vote will be made available for our perusal.

We were assured that the staff and players' wages will be paid on time, that is, the 26th June. However, the League have implemented an embargo on the signing of any new players until the 10th July.

A member of the Trust will be democratically elected to the board of directors.

There is no possibility of a move to Milton Keynes. However a possible ground share with another sporting club will be considered.

A request from the Club for a measure of decorum on the message boards

A request from the Club to lobby the council as regards the "Luton Plan", and keeping Kenilworth Road for the near future; the taking forward of the development of a new stadium and identifying a training facility for the club.

Regular meetings between the Trust and the Club will take place.

The Trust Committee still recommends that for the near future supporters should continue to use the Trust Pledge scheme and withhold funds from the club, until the current situation is resolved satisfactorily. The deadline for season tickets has been extended to assist in gaining the assurances we seek from the Club and League.
