PLEDGE ORGANISERS SECURE MEETING WITH JOHN GURNEY
Luton Town supporters have promised thousands of pounds to the football club through a new pledge scheme - and the scheme's organisers today welcomed news that Mr John Gurney has agreed to meet them.
Trust in Luton announced that their scheme is taking off, with fans promising to hand over cash to the football club once its ownership issues are properly resolved. The Trust's interim committee added that the man currently running Luton Town FC, Mr Gurney, had agreed to a private meeting, with no media presence, and had been invited to choose a date.
Via an independent scrutineer, Trust members and other Hatters fans are pledging money they would normally send directly to the Football Club in payment for season tickets, replica kits, commercial sponsorships and so on.
The data provided by the scrutineer will be available for perusal, and a running total of the pledged money will be available on the www.trustinluton.com website soon. Any queries about the scheme can at the moment be directed to the scrutineer via pledge@trustinluton.com.
Once the future of the Football Club is assured to Trust members' satisfaction, the Trust committee will issue a statement advising people to honour the pledge they have made. The Trust committee welcomes Mr Gurney's agreement to a meeting and hopes this will lead to issues being resolved so that fans will feel able to make their purchases from the Club as usual.
Fans unable to download a form from www.trustinluton.com can pick one up from the Customer Information point in the Arndale Centre or the racks in the Reference section of Luton Central Library, as well as other libraries in the borough.
