LUTON TOWN THANKS SUPPORTERS

On behalf of everyone at the Club, we would like to thank all of you who attended, donated, or simply raised a glass to the Luton Legends v Arsenal Pro-Celebrity Charity day.

Through your generous efforts and belief, a hefty five-figure sum was raised for charity, all of whom will be very grateful and put the money to good use. We would specifically like to thank a number of people, all of whom deserve a special mention.

We would like to thank the Preece family for allowing us to rename 'The Family Stand' to 'The David Preece Stand' and Luton fan, Zoe Bromwich, for giving us the idea many months ago. David's family is truly touched by the feelings we have for him. They now know we will never forget. We were delighted that David's youngest daughter, Ruby, was our lucky mascot on Saturday, leading out the team with Ricky Hill.

Thanks also go to ref Alan Wiley and his assistants David Hair and Malcolm Scott for giving up their time free of charge on Saturday.

We should all thank the staff, stewards, gatemen, players, caterers, media, and Bedfordshire University who all gave their time and support for free and without their help the event couldn't have happened.

Thanks also to the Mayor, councillors, MP's and Mr Ian Wright who attended and gave moral support.

Thanks to Arsenal Football Club and the Arsenal Pro-Celeb team who have been hugely supportive throughout and certainly gave us a great game.

At Saturday night's dinner, yet more money was raised for the charities by the very generous people attending.

We have had an awful and turbulent season - one of the darkest in recent memory. We were within days of losing our club forever. There is still a lot of work to do before the new season starts, and we hope to come out of administration in the very near future. Whatever sanctions we face from the FL and FA, we must remember how far we have come in the past 22 weeks. We must remember that this has been achieved by unity and the desire of all fans to never to give up. We have always planned for the worst, and we will get through this (whatever the authorities decide) and come out stronger, together. 123 years of history and 123 years still to come.

From now on, our club will be run fairly and honestly. There will be difficult and unpalatable decisions to make. There will also be great and welcome decisions to make. To keep fully informed and involved, we urge you to join at least one of the supporters' groups: Trust in Luton, Luton Town Supporters Club and Loyal Luton Supporters Club. They are only a tenner a year (maximum) and we liaise with them regularly on progress, updates and opinions. You can have your say and help to provide funds for the worthy causes they support (youth development, community sport etc along with supporting the Club)

The players who turned out on Saturday were fantastic and did far more than we ever asked and could have hoped for. Many were on the pitch signing for whoever asked, both before and after the game. They gave their time freely and showed the heart our club has been missing for far too long. Legends: all of them.

It was also great to see them playing alongside perhaps our next legends (George and Ed).

We cannot promise anything grand, but Saturday was a marker for what all Hatters deserve. It was emotional to see so many kids there, so many smiles there, and so much heart.

Again, thank you. Enjoy the summer and we look forward to seeing you supporting your club, our club, for a new start, on 9th August.
