LTFC2020 Ltd to be next custodians of Luton Town (letter to supporters)
As you are no doubt aware, earlier this month, LTFC2020 exchanged contracts with the Administrator in order to become the new custodians of Luton Town Football Club. We are now very proud to be in a position to be able to take the club forward after the uncertain times of recent months and to make financial and management troubles a thing of the past. Our club is now safe.
Although we have not yet completed contracts to take the business over and whilst timescales are somewhat out of our hands, we hope to be fully in control by the end of the season when the Football League will be in a position to re-issue us with the Club’s golden share. Meanwhile, we are working alongside the administrator making plans for next season and beyond.
We are all lifelong fans who have witnessed many ups and downs. Having experienced three administrations in nine years we are now determined that prudent financial management and boardroom stability are the key factors that will make our Club safe again. It’s now time to look forward to an exciting future. We have a long-term plan that focuses on ensuring financial security and bringing the good times back for all supporters.
Therefore, a sensible long term plan is now a crucial foundation for stability in order to avoid further administrations. The reason for the name of our company, LTFC2020 Ltd, is due to the creation of a twelve year strategic plan being established which outlines where our Club will be in the year 2020 having experienced a prolonged period of settled management.
This was the motivation behind our investors and advisors committing to 2020 with so much dedication and enthusiasm. This plan identifies the future health of Luton Town Football Club broken down by key objective; ownership, management, football, finance, location, youth development, community, marketing, fan base and value.
However, fear not; just because our primary plan is so long term does not mean that we will not be making positive changes in the near future. We have a huge mountain to climb over the next few weeks and progress is already underway.
In the immediate future, we have to ensure that we exit administration in a fit state so we can start being more progressive in addition to a number of operational tasks to ensure that we are ready for the new season in August.
In parallel, our priority is to bring stability to the finances so that we can start to rebuild. This has been the Club’s virus over recent years and desperately needs care and attention to ensure that we have a stable future.
Once we have achieved that, we will undertake an independent feasibility study to identify the best location for a desperately needed new stadium. We will work with everyone to ensure that the result will identify the best site, practically and commercially, for our relocation. To be absolutely clear, no site will be ruled in or out prior to this process, but this will be the first time such a study will have ever been commissioned and we feel it is imperative that proper consultation is carried out to ensure that we relocate to the most appropriate location in the shortest time possible.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all fans, supporters’ groups, corporate supporters, staff, players, management, suppliers and officials for the overwhelming kindness and backing we have received for our plans so far. We totally appreciate that without this help, our bid would have been much, much harder to turn into a reality.
Luton Town is nothing without your support. You are the lifeblood of the Club and we need your support both vocally and financially as we have a lot of work ahead of us but by working together and supporting each other, Luton Town can become a great Club again.
Over the coming months we will keep everyone informed of our progress as we aim to repay in some small way the faith that has been shown in us. Keep an eye out for the launch of our website, www.2020mission.com, where further details of our plans will be revealed. Please log-on and leave your contact details so we can keep you updated more easily, more frequently and more cost-efficiently in the future.
Also make sure you keep Saturday 10th May reserved to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Luton Town’s most successful era – winning the Littlewoods Cup in that fabulous 3-2 victory over Arsenal. We will be replaying the game at Kenilworth Road with many of the heroes from that day putting their boots back on. Tickets are available now at £10 per adult and £5.00 for under 16s with net proceeds in aid of the charities of the gentlemen that have since passed away. We are also requesting an additional £5.00 optional donation to be invested into our youth Centre of Excellence.
I will sign off by asking you to bear with us as we put together our full management team and to support Mick, the team and the staff. Many legends have graced our halls, stand and pitch. With your help and support, we will bring the heart and soul back to our famous Club. |
